CAD / CAM Software for CNC Machines

CAD stands for Computer Aided Designing and CAM stands for Computer Aided Machining. As obvious from their acronyms, CAD software is used to design the artwork, drawings etc. which are further used by CAM software to make tool path for machining.
Any suitable CAD software like AutoCAD can be used to make the basic drawings or CorelDraw to make artistic designs. A scanned image of a drawing could also be imported to CAD software. In cases where direct component is available, 3D Digitizer is used to acquire the CAD image.
What is important for the CNC machine is the CAM software, which works on these designs and makes suitable tool path for machining. Every CAM software comes with a separate post-processer for various CNC machines so as to generate the appropriate tool path necessary for that machine. All major CAM softwares have a number of post-processers with a facility to add more drivers not included with the software.

Normally, CAM software provides facility to modify drawings created in CAD software. Not only that, many softwares have a CAD as well as CAM facility built into one module which is why they are called CAD/CAM software, capable of handling both, the designing as well as machining.

A lot of CAD/CAM softwares are available in the market, which cater to a distinct but broad spectrum of clients. Some examples are dedicated CAD/CAM software for jewelry segment, mould-makers, engravers, product designers having multiples of sub-components and assemblies to name a few.

CNC Router Hold Down System Instructions:
Fix the cnc pressure foot on the spindle, adjust the height, then fixed the holding screw tightly is ok. How to adjust the height? Working on panals which is within 3mm, just need keep the bottom of the auto pressure foot and the cutter bit nose at the same level. If panel is 4mm-6mm, make the bottom of the bottom of the cnc automatic pressure foot 2-3mm over the cutter bit end. The rest can be done in the same manner.
Some time for the big panel, we have to use some double faced adhesive tape or instant adhesive to help fix on some key point areas.

Linear Guide Seal Design:

What is PCB CNC Router?

There are a number of different methods that can be used to construct printed circuit boards (PCBs), some of which are additive in nature and others that are subtractive. Two common subtractive methods, both of which start off with a board that is entirely coated in copper, are etching and milling. The milling process involves using a computer numerical control (CNC) router to carve away the unnecessary areas of copper, resulting in conductive pathways and other similar structures. PCB CNC router devices are most commonly used for rapid prototyping, and can create both through-hole and surface mount technology (SMT) circuit boards. PCB CNC router need equipped with a high rotating speed spindle, more than 30000rpm. Circuit boards are components that are designed to perform two basic functions. One of these is to provide physical support for a variety of electronic components. The other purpose is to provide electrical connectivity for those components, which is necessary in order to create working circuits. There are a number of different types of circuit boards, and a few different ways to construct PCBs. The most common methods are subtractive in nature, which means that they start off with boards that are coated in copper or another conductive material.

The most common subtractive method of creating PCBs is referred to as etching, which can be used for both small scale prototyping and large production runs. Etching requires the use of potentially hazardous chemicals though, so it is not typically performed outside laboratory and industrial settings. Milling is a similar process that is typically used for rapid prototyping, since it does not require the use of any harmful chemicals.

In order to mill a printed circuit board, a PCB CNC router is required. These devices are used to mill the copper surface of a board until a specified pattern has been created. This is accomplished by providing the PCB CNC router with instructions from a computer aided drafting (CAD) program, which the machine can follow in order to automatically mill away the correct areas.

Most PCB CNC router devices are capable of moving along two axes, in order to mill conductive pathways. Movement along a third axis is also necessary in order to control the depth of the cuts. Some of these PCB CNC machines are also capable of drilling holes in circuit boards, which is necessary in order to support through-hole components. Other PCB CNC router devices are designed to create SMT circuit boards, which do not require mounting holes.
