CNC Pressure Foot Clamping Hold Down System for CNC Router

DIY CNC Pressure Foot Clamping Hold Down System for CNC Router
Model: spindle diameter 100mm/105mm/92.5mm/80mm/72mm/65mm etc

For thin work piece processing, it is not easy to be fixed by clamps and screws. Usually workers press the work piece when the cnc router is working. It is very dangerous. Also the gas or the dust of the workpiece are very harmful to the workers' health, some will cause cancer. Now a good cnc router accessory tools will be very helpful--cnc pressure foot hold down will achieve automotive clamp.

Fix the pressure foot on the cnc router spindle, so pressure foot move with the spindle, and press on the workpiece automatically, keep the workpiece not move up and down. Make the carving precision accurate, the carving product 100% qualified. No need people to press on the workpiece any more, save labor and good to health.

Spindle Pressure Foot Applications:
Suitable for any kinds of Acrylic, thin aluminum board, PCB prototyping, printed circuit board routing, plastic board, PVC board, EVA board, double color board, MDF board, etc, especially for panels within 10mm thickness.

CNC Router Hold Down System Instructions:
Fix the cnc pressure foot on the spindle, adjust the height, then fixed the holding screw tightly is ok. How to adjust the height? Working on panals which is within 3mm, just need keep the bottom of the auto pressure foot and the cutter bit nose at the same level. If panel is 4mm-6mm, make the bottom of the bottom of the cnc automatic pressure foot 2-3mm over the cutter bit end. The rest can be done in the same manner.
Some time for the big panel, we have to use some double faced adhesive tape or instant adhesive to help fix on some key point areas.

DIY CNC Holde Down Features:
Material: Stainless steel
Diameter: 100mm (80mm/65mm, optional)
Outline square: 132*120mm
Height: 102mm
Bottom inner circle diameter: 49mm
Flexible distance: 28mm

Different spindle, the spindle diameter is different. So different size cnc router spindle automatic pressure foot is needed. Please contact us to get more information.

CNC Router Workholdings Types

6 CNC Router Workholdings Types
Introduction
Workholding is the generic term for any device or method used to firmly hold your work piece while machining it. While CNC Routers are technically milling machines, and they share some similarities in work holding, they're basically a whole new ballgame.
Spoilboard
A spoilboard is a disposable work surface mounted atop the router's permanent table. The spoilboard is typically MDF and protects the router table from damage as well as being an expendable surface that can participate in cnc workholding.
Screw into Spoilboard
This is a very common method and involves screwing into the spoilboard to hold the work. It's cheap and cheerful, but it does leave holes in the workpiece and can be slow. For tasks like this, grab an electric impact driver, air ratchet or similar tool to help drive the screws faster (as well as removing them faster). Another disadvantage aside from it being slow to bolt things down is that hitting one of the screws with a cutter will often break the cutter. If it's travelling at feeds and speeds intended for wood or other soft materials, it's going way to fast when it unexpectedly hits hard metal.
Polymer Nails into Spoilboard
The idea is to use polymer (plastic) nails to secure the workpiece to the spoilboard:

The process is a little bit fussy and requires adjustment of air pressure and can be sensitive to overly hard wood. But, when once it is dialed in, it works great. Removing the workpiece just requires a little tap with a mallet to break the nails--they're strong at resisting pullout but shear off easily. With a nail gun, this technique can be a lot faster than screwing into the spoilboard.
Double Sided Tape and Glue
Small parts that don't expect high cutting forces can do well with double sided tape and various kinds of glue.
Auto CNC Pressure Foot Clamping Fixture
The CNC router spindle pressure foot holder is an assembly adjustable clamp. The CNC router pressure foot attaches to the Z axis spindle of your CNC router machine and provides clamping force directly around the cutter bit. This clamping approach is particularly effective for machining small parts and thin/flexible materials that cannot be held by traditional clamping methods.

Foot fixture holder adjustable body comes complete with precision machined bearings, hardened and ground slides, and round rolling balls to prevent scratches or marks on delicate finishes.
The pressure foot clamp is designed to compensate for some material warping and tables that are not perfectly flat, particularly effective for machining small parts and thin/flexible materials that cannot be held by traditional clamping methods without using tabs or adhesives.
Clamps and T-Slots
On CNC Engravers, T-Slots are typically created using T-Track, which are metal T-Slots designed to be attached to your MDF spoilboards.
Vacuum Tables
We've saved the best for last as Vacuum Tables are often the best solution for the flat sheet work often being done on CNC Routers. You can lay an MDF spoilboard right on top of a vacuum table and it's porous enough to still pull a vacuum. Granted, unless you have a lot of vacuum available, you may want to seal part of the spoil board so the area receiving the vacuum is limited. Vacuum tables can be set up with zones that can be turned on and off with valves as well.

Also we can make the CNC router vacuum table insert with Aluminum T slots, so you can also user clamps to hold the workpiece.

CNC Pressure Foot Solved Hold-Down Problems with Small, Thin, Porous Parts

CNC Pressure Foot Solved Hold-Down Problems with Small, Thin, Porous Parts

Many CNC workers having trouble with a particular part on their CNC Routers. For example, try to hold down a small (approx. 4"x8"x1/8" thick) MDF panel for edge routing on all four edges, therefore we cannot use a fence on the spoil board. The part must remain fixed (critical dimensions).
You can try to pin the panel down, but there is a pain since you have to pull the part off the pins and then pull the pins out; not to mention the resulting holes in the part. Double sided tape helps, but is only good for a single part.
CNC pros suggest a range of solutions for holding down small parts during machining, such as vacuum clamping, edge clamping, screws/brad nails, tapes etc, but they are all not good. Now there is a helpful tool, it is a hero to solve these kind of CNC clamping problem—CNC Pressure Foot.

The CNC hold-down attaches to the Z axis spindle of your CNC router machine and provides clamping force directly around the cutter bit. This clamping approach is particularly effective for machining small parts and thin/flexible materials that cannot be held by traditional clamping methods.

1, Small Parts and Letters: Small parts and letters are not convenient to hold by vacuum suction and T slot clamps. Our CNC pressure foot clamping attachment eliminates the headaches while saving time and money.
2, Thin & Flexible Materials: Even with the use of tabs, many thin plastics, metals, and wood veneers cannot be cut by a CNC router using vacuum clamping or edge clamping. These delicate materials are easily damaged by double-sided tape. Our CNC pressure foot attachment provides quick and easy clamping for thin and flexible materials without costly accidents.
3, Workpiece with a lot of holes: Large parts that are full of holes can be a CNC machining nightmare. Without tabs, they don't have the surface area required for universal vacuum clamping and the remaining material is not available for clamps fixing. Our CNC pressure foot does the job without wrinkles, scrapers or chemicals.
