Collets identification guide: how to distinguish the collet model and size

For CNC tool clamping systems collets, as different countries have different standards, there are ER collets, collets TG, collets SYOZ / EOC / RDO, collets DA, collets SK, collets C type, collets K type, etc. Some of these collets model look alike, so makes users confused when they replaced the old collets. Collets ER, TG, SYOZ/EOC/RDO, DA, SK are all unique measures. Even if brands have worn away, noted the shape and carefully measure your collets, you can determine what types and sizes of collets it is. Measure the length (L) and depth (D) collets. Mounting Instructions for ER collets and Nuts

For a green hand to set up or take out er collets with nut, if not fix the collet well, it will be very dangerous. Wrong fixture can not hold the cutter bits tightly, high speed spindle rotating and cutter bits cutting will easy get the cutter bits fly out. That is very dangerous.
Now RicoCNC will guide you how to set up and take out er collets with nut.

Mounting instructions for ER collets and nut:
1, Put the collet into the nut, turn the collet slightly. Push it into the nut at the offered direction evenly when the offset flange sinks into the undercut of the collet. Push on the bottom of the collet until the collet completely enters, and lines up with, the nut. As the collet moves into proper alignment, you will hear and feel a distinct click, indicating that the top of the collet is safely.

2, Fix the nut and the collet on the spindle rotate the nut until the collet is in pressing, wipe the straight shank of cutter and insert it into the pilot hole. The nut / collet assembly can now be screwed onto the spindle, loaded with one of those great Precise Bits. Tighten the nut with a wrench till the cutter is clamped heavily and made ready to use. (Caution: never tighten the nut without cutter in it for it will break).

3, When changing the cutter bits, remove the nut / collet from the spindle and remove any bits from the collet bore. Loosen the nut and it shall bring out the collet and the cutter together. And then draw the cutter out, push out slightly the collet in the offered direction, it shall be ready for any change of the cutters.

Collets mounting instructions Keypoint:
1, Place collet inside nut and rotate the nut to engage with the extractor spiral in collet groove
2, Only then mount nut and collet together into the collet chuck holder or machine spindle
3, Removing the collet from the nut is also quite easy. Loosen the nut, take out the cutter, then remove the collet from the nut.

NOTE
Never activate (turn on) a spindle without a tool securely fastened inside the collet, and the nut properly tightened.
Failure to follow this simple precaution could lead to damage to the spindle, collet, nut and any unfortunate bystander.

Slatwall, also called Bracket Board, Spacewall, Shutterwall, T-Slat (Wind Mill), Slotwall, Slot-Wall, Displaywall, Slat Board,  Slat wall Panel, Grooved board, Slotted MDF Board, Slot board, Slotted MDF board, etc. Slatwall is an ideal backdrop for your exhibition space. How to make the slatwall panels?
Traditional way is by hand router, or by small wood sheet, then combine to make slots.
Nowadays, CNC machining centers produce custom slatwall panels for the unique look retailers desire.  CNC router machines make the slotwall fast with high precision.

Slatwall panels are made of 18mm or 15mm thickness MDF or plywood or chipboards. Usually 6kw air cooled spindle is powerful enough to cut the T slots quickly.

Which machine is suitable for slat boards cutting?
The CNC routers have single head and multi heads, if you make large quantities slot-wall, you can choose multi heads cnc routers, several heads cutting T slots at one time, inhance the productivity. 
As slatwall have Landscape slatwall (24 x 12) and Portrait slatwall (12 x 24), we can make machine especially producing landscape slatwall or portrait slatwall. And single head CNC router can make both landscape slatwall and portrait slatwall easily.



What cutter bits used for T slots cutting?
Usually there are straight T slots and bevelled T slots, so there are straight T slot router bits and bevelled T slot router bits chose for use. 
As the wood boards have MDF, plywood, chipboard, and Melamine board, etc, if cut normal MDF, plywood, chipboard, carbide T slot bits are ok. If cut Melamine board with clean edge, should use the PCD diamond T slot bits.

What inserts put into the T slots?
Aluminum and plastic inserts are usually installed in the groove add beauty as well as strength. Of course Aluminum inserts can load much more strength than plastic, so it depends on your needs.

Slatwall panel producing strategy:
1st step: decide the parameters of the aluminium bar;

3rd step: find the fitting slatwall hooks or sent the aluminium bar to the slatwall hook manufacturer to produce suitable hooks.  
(You can sent the aluminium bar to the tool manufacturer and hook manufacturer at the same time, this can save a lot of time.)
